I grew up with this stuff here and I loved it!!! It’s a little different though than the one my grandma and mom make.
Ingredients
- 750g pork meat
- 1 big onion
- 2-3 garlic cloves
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 tsp paprika powder
- 2 tsp cumin, ground
- 1 L veggie broth
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 1 red pepper
- 1 can sauerkraut
- 1 bunch chives
- 200g sour cream
- oil, salt, pepper
Step 1:
Cut pork meat in little cubes and chop the peeled onion, same with garlic. Cook meat in a pan with oil and season it with salt and pepper.
Step 2:
Steam onion and garlic in a big bowl in oil, then add meat, tomato paste, paprika powder and cumin. Roast it all together and then deglaze it with veggie broth. Also add the bay leaves and let everything cook for 45 min over medium heat.
Step 3:
Wash the red pepper and cube it. Drain the sauerkraut, then add it with the red pepper to the bowl (after 45 min), let it cook for 45min more.
Step 4:
See if you need more salt or pepper and chop the chives. Serve the stew with sour cream and chives.
